2011 – What a year it was for me! If anyone had predicted what was in store for me, I would have said they were crazy. It started out as a devastating January that saw me lose faith in those I believed in and those I had dedicated my life to. If I had stayed with them, apart from further humiliation, I would have been compelled to turn down the great honour that President Jagdeo of Guyana saw fit to bestow on me, and be restricted to my home province of Ontario. I had out lived my usefulness. I now understand why I had to go.
Thank Heavens you came to my rescue, lifted me up, and helped my pain ease. The rest of 2011 was simply phenomenal. Thank you my true unselfish friends for believing in me: Newfoundland and Labrador, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia, Washington State, New York, Georgia, The Bahamas, Antigua, Dominica, Barbados, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, St. Vincent, St. Lucia, Grenada, Guyana, Suriname, French Guiana, Venezuela, The Philippines, India and Greece.
2012 promises to be equally good for IKD. I am in contact with China and St. Kitts, President David Clarke is working with Argentina, Africa and England, Venezuela’s Luis Aguero, with Aruba and Columbia, and India’s Sandesh Yadav, with countries neighbouring India.
I am now making plans to visit all IKD Caribbean member countries in March/April, starting with The Bahamas and ending with Guyana/Suriname. On a recent visit to Jamaica, their membership doubled from six to twelve dojos. As well, Venezuela is very strong and disciplined and their members are very excited about IKD. I had the opportunity to visit many dojos in Canada, officiate at the Canadian nationals in Saskatchewan, and visit Sept Isle in Quebec where Sensei Bryan Mattias took a group of about 50 students on a 16 hour bus trip to train with me. I also visited Sensei Marc Cordice in Washington State, and Sensei Claudette Joseph who hosted the IKD Caribbean camp and tournament in Grenada. While there we met the Minister of Education and discussed accreditation for IKD. Suriname was also on my list and they are off to a good start. I was appointed a Member of the Order of Service of Guyana by President Jagdeo, and the IKD received accreditation from the Guyana Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport.
In July, the second IKD camp and Goodwill Tournament will be held at the Ryerson University in Toronto and in October, I am expected to visit India, and take a team to China.
In closing, I pray that God may bless you and your families and keep you happy and safety during the Christmas Holidays.
With my sincere thanks and gratitude,
