On September 3, 2013, Japan Karate Association Master Shigeru Takashina passed away.
Shuseki Shihan Frank Woon-A-Tai remembers the Master.
Heartfelt condolences go out to the family, friends and students of Master Shigeru Takashina, 8th Dan JKA who passed September 3, 2013.
He was, in a few words, a true and great karate master, and staunch supporter of the JKA and traditional karate values.
I first met him in 1971 when I was training at JKA HQ in Japan. He was one of my Instructors who taught me a great deal about JKA karate.
He advised me in 1973 and again in 1974 to marry Maureen. How right he was, for next year we celebrate our 40th Wedding Anniversary.
With him, respect between us was mutual. Whenever I assisted him at Master Camp, he would always tell me to bow to the students at the start and end of class and not to him; he was the only one who did that.
May he find eternal rest and peace. My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.
Moreover, the International Karate Daigaku (IKD) sends deepest and sincere condolences to his loved ones.
