Marc Boismenu, 6th Dan – Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Marc Boismenu began his karate journey in 1986 where he started training under Sensei Mori in the JKA in Montreal. He first started karate as a curiosity, he was intrigued by the combination of mental & physical (flexibility, endurance, fitness) karate could possessed and wanted to test my abilities.
He attained his Shodan through Rokudan under Shuseki Shihan Frank Woon-A-Tai and currently continues to study the art and science of karate and expand his knowledge under IKD.
Marc has competed at all levels, provincial, national and international and has been a gold medalist in a number of events at all levels.
He obtained his undergraduate degree of engineering (Chemical) at McGill University and his Masters Degree in Strategic Management from the Kelley School of Business, Indiana University.
Marc began his career at General Motors of Canada in Quebec, held various positions in manufacturing and engineering before transferring to the Canadian Technical Center in Oshawa, Ont. Namely, he has held the position of R&D program manager and created the Science Office of General Motors in Canada and grew a portfolio of research with academic institutions across Canada as well as federal laboratories, to advance the scientific learning as it relates to many automotive technologies. Today, Marc is responsible for the portfolio of advanced development work in Computer Aided Engineering for General Motors around the globe.
In October 2018, the IKD established the Department of Distinguished Awardees and named Sensei Marc Boismenu the head of the department. He is assisted by his daughter, Nicole.
