Sad news from St. Lucia today.
Sensei Patrick Edward, 6th Dan, H.F., M.S. & Chief Instructor of St. Lucia, passed away. He was ailing for the last few years.
Although Patrick was ill, he nevertheless competed in Guyana at the 2019 IKD Caribbean Cup and won the men’s senior kata. At the Cup, he would lay on the bench resting until his name was called. This is the hallmark of a true Budo-ka and warrior.
A very quiet and reserved man, Patrick’s love for karate never diminished. He was honoured with the IKD National Medal of Service in St. Lucia in March 2019. Later that year he was inducted into the IKD Hall of Fame.
The IKD has selected him for the 2022 IKD stamp.
