Progress on Guyana Karate College

Guyana Karate College, Liliendaal HQ is under construction. When finished, it will house one huge dojo and four regular dojo(s), as well as four separate student change/washrooms: adult male, children male, adult female, and children female.

On December 28, 2021, Mr. Suresh Beharry, Chairman of Beharry Restaurant Holdings, generously donated a cheque in the amount of 1.5 million Guyana dollars to construct the last east wall (cement block works) of the Guyana Karate College HQ at Liliendaal. The IKD thanks Suresh for his substantial generosity to assist GKC in providing a place for Guyana’s youth. Suresh is a former member of the Japan Karate Association of Guyana (YMCA dojo) that Shihan Woon-A-Tai founded in 1968. After training, he left to pursue his university studies in Canada. However, he has not forgotten his karate roots and his son, Sachin, is a coloured belt member of the YMCA dojo. Thank you very much, Suresh! Your generosity is very much appreciated!

The GKC currently operates at GKC Transport Dojo, Thomas Lands (heading west from GDF HQ, second building on the left).

Monday, Wednesday, Friday 5:30 to 6:30 pm.

They strive to have one Master Teacher each belt class. Children train with other children.

Sister dojo(s): YMCA, School of the Nations – Karate Family, Three Ryu Karate – Everest Cricket Club, and Bartica. Liliandaal HQ under construction.
